My Washed Out School Athletics Day March 2016

Unluckily, on our first attempt to complete the athletics day we were washed out! But before we were washed out we managed to complete some events. We got to Llanberis Reserve, the place the athletics day was being held by bus. When we arrived  we got sorted into our houses and told to sit in the grandstand. We have four houses and they are Atkins, Dudley, Forster and Hender. I am in Hender. Usually, we complete the field events in the morning and the running events in the afternoon. This athletics day something different happened. Our principal, Mrs Sawyer gave an announcement saying that all running events were to be held in the morning and the field event in the afternoon. You need to know that each house has a chant to yell while people are racing. All of the houses try to yell so loudly that they can't hear the other houses. This year the Hender chant is:

Hender, Hender,
We're so fast,
We're so fast we burn the grass!
Go Hender!

Everyone was so excited as the races began (except for maybe the people in the first race)!

Bang! The gun went to start the first race. Pretty soon after, it was my turn to race. I think I came fourth, but I don't know. The field events were excellent! The first event was javelin. I didn't receive any prizes. We walked over to discus and were put in our order. I won a red ribbon because I came second. Shot put was our next event. I threw 3 metres and 55 centimetres  with a winning score. High jump was supposed to be our next event but the mat was too wet so we had a break. An announcement came over from Mrs Sawyer saying that it was too wet and the Athletics Day had to be postponed. I really look forward to completing the Athletics Day.
